Never leave candles burning unattended even for a short time.
Never burn a candle in a draft, this can cause sparks or the candle may topple over.
Alway extinguish all candles when leaving a room and before going to sleep, never fall asleep while a candle is burning.
Take care when moving candles, do not move a lit candle and always wait for the wax and container to cool before moving. Candle wax remains hot and can burn even after the flame has been extinguished.
Keep away from children and animals. Children are attracted to candles but can be easily burnt by the flame and hot wax, there is the additional threat of the candle being knocked over causing a wider fire.
Keep burning candles away fro furniture, carpets, book, paper, decorations, bedding clothing and anything else that can catch fire.
Always use a candle plate to avoid heat being transferred through the glass and damaging furniture.
